Design Tips - Your Entryway |
They say that when you go somewhere your entrance can make or break you. Well it’s no different when it comes to your new log home. People often position their main entranceway based off of the location of their driveway or garage. However, you should take some time to plan your entryway carefully. Make sure to consider where you really will be entering the home. Homes usually have at least two entrances, but we tend to use only one door most of the time. Where is the most convenient location for this main entrance? Keep your future visitors in mind when designing the layout of your home. Will your friends and relatives who come to visit be able to find the entrance easily?
Is there a walkway to help lead them in the right direction?
Now that the outside of your entrance is planned out, what’s inside that door? If you don’t want someone to walk into your living room with wet shoes, it would be best to plan a different location for the main door. When you enter the door to your home, this is the first impression that you and your guests will see. To keep the area free from clutter, you should plan on a place to hang jackets and take off shoes. Placing a closet near the main door is an easy way to keep those extra shoes and boots where you need them, but out of sight.
Don’t forget your floor! You want something that is pleasing to the eye, as well as easy to clean up when necessary. Keeping this in mind, you may want to consider using slate or vinyl flooring near the door. Overall, you want to make sure that the first impression of your log home is always the best impression. |
