Karey Caldwell previously owned a log home so she knew what she wanted, and she knew who she could count on to get her customized Woodland built.

Though her brother, Doug, had never built a log cabin, he was experienced enough to give it a go and teach his son, Michael, the process. Doug’s crew, which were mutual friends of theirs, helped them through a rather tough time, as their father’s health was failing and he passed away before the home was finished.

Karey wrote to Coventry that the “project was truly a family effort with therapeutic benefits.” Doug found that driving nails is a great stress reliever and their sister, Kelly, and Karey’s best friend, Jenna, benefitted from the healing experience as well.

During the project Karey found  she was putting in early mornings and late nights while she simultaneously juggled full-time work and caring for her father. The schedule was exhausting and the emotional toll could have been overwhelming, but they got through by laboring, laughing and crying together.

 Now that it is finished, Karey enjoys the low heating costs in the winter, the coolness the home maintains in the summer, and during rain storms—a wonderful acoustical bonus.™
