Baseball has long been considered one of America’s favorite pastimes and owning a log home has been a dream of many. What do these two have in common? Well, for Coventry Log Homes, Inc., a manufacturer of log home packages based in Woodsville, NH, the two have come together. While most of us here at Coventry Log Homes are Red Sox fans, this year has been one that has made us friendships in the National League. On Monday, August 4th Coventry sales representative Richard Titorenko and Vice President Mark Elliott, traveled to Wrigley field in Chicago, Illinois to meet their new customer and friend, Ted Lilly, a starting pitcher for the Chicago Cubs. “When Ted offered to have us come out for a game and meet in person, we couldn’t pass up the opportunity,” said Richard.

Mark and Richard at the gameWhile at the game, Mark and Richard saw firsthand how windy the Windy City can get. The game was seen on ESPN’s Monday Night Baseball during an unprecedented storm. Along with high winds and heavy downpours, an incredible display of lightning lit up the Chicago sky. Reports claimed nearly 10,000 lightning strikes hit the Chicago area in a four hour time frame. Mark commented, “We had great seats for the game and even better was the fact we were under cover while the storm blew through.” Mark and Richard watched Lilly’s teammate, Ryan Dempster, toss seven strikeouts in just five innings of play for the Cubs. However, he took the loss as the Astros managed to push two runs across the plate in a game that, because of weather, was called off in the 8th with a score of 2 to 0.

Mark stated, “Tuesday morning we were able to sit down to breakfast with Ted and go over some of the details for his new log home. We were also able to find out more about the Major League pitcher and his day to day schedule. Most of us often think of professional sports people as having the life. But we quickly found out the time and effort that Ted puts into being at the top of his game. We were glad to see how he gives back to the community also. Monday morning while we were still navigating the air port, Ted was at a children’s charity event.” Ted often works with inner city kids and enjoys bringing them in for a tour of the stadium and getting tickets for them to watch a game.

The complete home package Ted Lilly purchased from Coventry will be delivered in early September to his home state of California where he hopes to spend more of the off season being around family and friends. This is not the first Major League Baseball customer that Coventry has had. “We supplied Rick Matthews, the bullpen coach for the Colorado Rockies, with his log home built in Iowa, earlier this year,” stated Richard.

Coventry Log Homes, Inc. has shipped log homes all over the United States and Canada. “Every customer we are fortunate to work with seems to become close friends. It is a great feeling to know the product you sell has a friendly effect on people,” Mark commented.
